As the responsible office in the betterment and development of Thailand Industrial competency, The Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP), under The Ministry of Industry, has recognized the advantages from, if not, the essentiality in developing and upgrading the entrepreneurs of the small and medium enterprises to understand the way to adjust themselves and increase their production and administrative effectiveness through the construct of the industrial alliances network or "Cluster" as the mechanism in triggering the development.

Thai Handicraft Industry has been amongst the most influential industries to Thailand economies in total. Equipped with the upper hand in terms of raw material, craftsmanship and quality, Thailand Handicrafts contribution to the country economic growth has been consistent, especially to key trade partners such as the U.S. and E.U. Countries. However, the competition in the Handicraft Industry is escalating dynamically from the emergence of competing countries namely China, Indonesia and Vietnam who can produce greater quantities with cheaper costs. Furthermore, the surging oil price, couple with, the swelling interest rate have put much burden to the cost of production as well. Hence, in order to develop and upgrade the Handicraft industry competency to be able to stumble upon the situation and achieve the sustainable and continual growth the Handicraft Industry Cluster has been formed. Bureau of Cottage and Handicraft Industries Development DIP, has implemented the concept of Cluster in Bangkok and Vicinity area to increase their industrial competencies.

Our Cluster has been an active participant in an endeavor to increase Thailand industrial competency. We've jointly chosen the name "Navattasilp Bangkok" or "1st Craft Bangkok" to represent ourselves. So far, "Navattasilp Bangkok" has been executing various activities in order to thrust up the Cluster collective capability and competency. For example, the brainstorming activity for Cluster's name and logo design, developing the cluster brand and the planning for future tradeshows under "1st Craft Bangkok" umbrella brand.
